Broke my original 4.5” angle grinder - went and purchased a new one today and made some good progress. Used the new grinder to do the entire lower passenger side of the van - stripped down to bare metal with 24 grit discs then smoothed out with 50 grit discs. Vacuumed up the dust and strip-pings. Then wiped the entire surface down with acetone. Then primed with Rustoleum white primer.
The van needs to be ready for paint next week.
